A group of tired looking students and three adults are checking in. They are on a trip to Laredo and don't know what to expect. Laredo is near the northern Spanish city Bilbao, which is all they know. So these 9 people take the plane to Madrid, and from Madrid to Bilbao. After all they arrive in Laredo where they get a friendly welcome from a group of Spanish students.

For four days they stayed in this small town near Bilbao and except of some small problems the communication was good. Some Spanish students couldn't speak English well enough, so it was hard to communicate and in another constellation the Spanish girl did not really care about understanding her German guest. But these problems could be solved.

Over the weekend all students made different things, but in the afternoons or evenings the whole group met and went around. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't that good, it was windy and cold, but the Spanish students were used to do everything outside, so they had their fun in the streets while the German ones tried to remember where their freezing feet were.

So the time went by fast and the Sunday turned into Monday.

On Monday the German and the Norwegian students got to see the school and Monica, one Spanish teacher, explained the plans for that and the following day.

Since the theme was "Global Warming", charts against pollution were made, another group of students worked on an interview about what people know about global warming and pollution. Another result of this day were some papers with anti-pollution-slogans like "The world is ill, we have the medicine: STOP POLLUTION!" The next day the students put these papers on cars together with a "flower", made of paper. Another action of that day was a stand in front of the "Casa Cultural", where we showed our charts to the people passing by.

The students walked through the streets to swop a cigarette or a used battery with a bulb of a tulip. They got about 20 cigarettes and 2 batteries which is not very much, but the people had to think about pollution and that was the main goal.

Another thing they did was to visit small kids in a kindergarten and to swop a used battery, which they gave us, for a bulb again. With this action they tried to make small children also think about this big problem in the world they live in. One group of students also went to the supermarket to search for things, that where named "fresh" or "natural". The result was, that they nearly didn't find any product that was really fresh and natural. In the evening the whole group watched the interesting and informative movie "An inconvenient truth", made by Al Gore.

The last day was the most interesting and varied day in the whole stay in Laredo. We went to the Spanish city "Santander" to go to the beach and, which was the main reason, to visit the European School of Consume, where the last group summarised all the work that was done, and cleared the harmony or disharmony between Spanish and German students. They showed a PowerPointPresentation to explain all actions to the teachers, who had been working on a different goal those days.

The day was concluded by a dinner at a Spanish restaurant, which was a nice final of four different days.

Kind of astonishing or ironic was, that a week after we had all gone back into our normal life, the climate report published by the UN made people in the whole world think about ways to minimize pollution and to rescue the world, just what we had been working on.
